Text: Exodus 3 - Moses and the burning bush
When you hear
this famous biblical story read to you, what goes through your mind?
What questions
would you like to have answered from this story?
How can a bush
burn and yet not burn up?
How could Moses hesitate after seeing such a powerful revelation from God?
Some Observations
1. God knows _________ ________________
God calls Moses
by name before instructing him. In fact, each time God addresses Moses, be it to
teach, converse or command, God first lovingly calls him by name.
2. God Calls _________________________People to do Great things [see Exo3:1; 10 -]
3. He calls
people Who Consider Themselves _______________________and
________________________________________ Exodus 3:11 - "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh . . ." Exodus 4:1, "They will not believe me or listen to my voice" 4:10 - "Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, . . . I am slow of speech and of tongue." What excuses have you given?
4. God Calls
People of All _____________
5. God Sometimes Call People Who Do Not Want to be _________________Exodus 4:13 But he said, "Oh, my Lord, send, I pray, some other person." Moses did not want to go to Egypt. In 4:14-17, God tells Moses he's going to do it anyway.
Instead, we need to be like Isaiah in Isaiah 6:8,
"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will
go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.' "
How
should we respond? - 'Here
am I! Send me.'
