Lesson 10 - Sitting at The Father’s Feet

 Text: Luke 10: 38-42

A popular story of Mary and Martha.  On one privileged occasion, the Lord visited their home and began to teach.  In this story, Mary sat at the Lord’s feet absorbing every word that proceeded from His mouth.  Martha, on the other hand, busied herself in the preparation of meals and other necessary arrangements while this process took place.

 Compare the two sisters

Three observations from the text:

1.  MARY MADE A BETTER _________________________.

In Deut 30:19-20, the Bible says….

Life vs, death

Blessings vs, cursing

Good vs. bad

Obey vs. disobey…………….

What choices have you made lately.

2. MARTHA WAS ____________________________.

If we are going to sit at his feet, we must make a  _________________and  we must ignore ______________________________

Prioritize

Spend your time wisely

Come back to him fully

3. MARTHA WAS __________    ______________   ___________________.

The Bible tells us that Martha worked hard.  I believe Jesus appreciates the efforts, but there is something He appreciates more than the hospitality and that is relationship/company.

4.  MARTHA WAS _____________________________.

Several lessons learnt, two important one are: To wait at his feet and to discover freedom at his feet.

1.  TO WAIT AT HIS FEET

(Isa 40:31  - But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount …………………).

What does the term ‘wait’ mean to you?

Rom 8:19 - Describes an eager anticipation for the revelation of truth and love as it is in the Father. Ps 62: 5 – says, my soul, wait thou…for God only

2. TO DISCOVER FREEDOM AT HIS FEET

When we recline at the Lord’s feet and wait patiently for him we will also discover freedom from bondages.  E.g. Joseph, The Israelites, Daniel, Paul and Silas.

Let me tell you when we are at the Lord’s feet

We can complain

We worship

We can cry, laugh, and sing

We can do all things

We can move mountains

Joys can be restored

Hope can be restored.

We lay our thoughts and opinions at the Lord’s feet and begin to take upon ourselves “the mind of Christ” through the impartation of the Holy Spirit.  When I sit at my father’s feet, my enemies are in trouble.  I experienced protection, peace, love, and other benefits.  It all begins by knowing Him.
