Learnt….
1.
It was a call to ____________________________________.
The call to Abraham was to go from his country, and from his
relatives and from his father’s house. (Genesis
12:1).
All
of us have a comfort zone.
2.
It was a call to ____________________________________.
Abraham was called to a dependence on God because he was going to a
land that God will show him. The "complete" call of God is however
both to leave our comfort zone and also to go to where God wants us to be. It is
a complete surrender to God of all our wishes, including our spiritual wishes.
3.
A call to __________________________________________. What Abram was called to, was not so much the fulfillment of
Abram’s dreams but to a position where Abram was to receive yet more of
God’s promises. (Genesis 12:2-3).
4.
A call for ______________________________________. Abraham was called to a position where God…will bless those
who bless him and whoever curses him He will curse…(Genesis 12:3)
5.
A call for _________________________________________. Abraham was so afraid of losing his wife Sarah, that he told
her to lie by saying that she was his sister. In that way, the people of Egypt
would be nice to him because of her sister.
6.
A call for ________________________________.
You and I are called not to be placed above others, but for God’s.
(Genesis 12:3)
Note: After ten years Abram lost that faith when he had a
son by Hagar instead, with drastic consequences going on till today in the
rivalry between the descendants of Isaac and those of Ishmael. The blessing of
God is not to be rich or healthy or for long life. The blessing of God is the
revelation of a personal God through faith, this being the way all peoples on
earth are blessed.
With
such a revelation, the earth is transformed, is redeemed, restored and forgiven.
Through the repetition of the call to Abraham, God has fulfilled his statement
to the serpent that the offspring of Eve would indeed crush your head though
that of the serpent would strike his head.
